In Windows XP how do you prevent the quick launch icons from hiding?

I right clicked the whitespace in the quick-launch bar and selected "properties". I didn't see it so I cursed Microsoft for bad UI design (first for a bad default value, next for not being able to change that value). Now I am asking for your help because I didn't see it on the Microsoft website (also horrible if you actually want to use it).

  1. Should be able to right click on the bottom toolbar and and choose properties, then choose customize. Click on the ones you want to always show and the ones you want to hide when not in use.

    If that don't work, sorry.

  2. it's very easy. If there are no quick launch icons on the taskbar then, you will have to do a right click on the task bar-toolbars-quick launch. now if want to stop them from hiding then move the mouse pointer on a  type of dots displayed on the task bar after the quick launch icons and >>. the mouse pointer will change to an arrow shape when the  mouse pointer is kept on the dots.just drag the mouse pointer on right side or if you have so many quick launch icons then move the mouse pointer on the upper edge of the taskbar and pull it up.
