In Yahoo Groups, the moderator disappeared & his email is bouncing. Spam is flooding in. How can I take over?

This is a very active group of Volvo enthusiasts but we are bombarded with spam and with no one at the helm, spam filters can't be activated. I want to take over but can't see a way to become a Moderator without approval of the non-existent owner. Any work-around on this?
