Or does that mean you flip summon it, into face up attack position?

And is this still allowed in the new rules?

  1. Once you "Flip" a flip effect monster, u flip it into Face up Attack, and then the effect activate, unless u or ur opponent have a spell to keep it in defense after u flip it.

it also states and I quote: Flip Effect Monster Cards are Effect Monster Cards that have an effect that can be activated by flipping the monster from a face-down to a face-up position.

They are differentiated from other Effect Monster Cards by having the word "FLIP" before the text of the effect. Many Flip Effect Monster Cards have low ATK and DEF values, but have very useful effects. The challenge is to keep them in play long enough to activate the effect to your advantage. The Flip Effect does not activate if it is Normal Summoned straight to the field.

    and

Flip Monster Effects occur when a Flip Effect Monster is flipped face-up; either as a result of battle, a Flip Summon, or by another card effect, such as Swords of Revealing Light. Cards like Ceasefire can flip face-down cards face-up, but any Flip Effects are negated.

If the monster is flipped up as a result of battle, the card is destroyed first, and then its effect is activated and resolved in the Damage Step to prevent the card from targeting itself in the cases of effects like Hane-Hane.

  2. A Flip Summon is when you change a monster's battle position from face-down Defense Position to face-up Attack Position. Flipping a face-down monster because it was attacked, or flipping a monster face-up because of a card effect like "Swords of Revealing Light" or "Book of Taiyou", is not a Flip Summon.

  3. Flip Effect can be activated when your Face Down Defense Position Monster is Flipped Face-Up regardless of Battle Position (through getting attack, card effect or flip summon).

  4. A flip effect activates when you flip a monster that was initially face down, regardless of attack or defence.

  5. i think that whatever position you put face down is what position when you reveal it
