Fraid not. it has to be destroyed and sendig it from the hand doesn't destroy it.

Phoenix must be destroyed for its effect to work.  Discarding is not destroying so it doesn't activate.  If it is destroyed by CCV in your hand then it's destroyed, but otherwise, that would never happen.

118 is right, MUST BE DESTROYED, not discarded or as a sacrifice.

Dont listen to the other guy though, as long as things keep you off the computer and video games it's good
