  1. it has nothing to do with the AC, it only kicks the gear down, for example if u were running at 3rd gear at the speed of 90 km/h, and u press it, it will kick to the second gear, with a high RMP ,and it will accelerate faster.

  2. it does couple things:

    downshift

    turn off a/c.

    change timing position.

    etc.

  3. depending on the model.

    1. Opens the injectors to full out put (no pulse)

    2. The transmission shifts down one instantly with no questions asked IF the trans is switched to sport mode.

    3. Newer models the A/C compressor is shut off.

    4. Some models MIGHT change the timing.

Oh and also the 02 sensor is ignored.

  4. That sounds right - it's a kick down to allow it to downshift to put it in the right gear to accelerate or get up a hill.

  5. In a Bimmer I had... When placed in Sport mode: I could run the engine almost to the redline and let completely off without it downshifting. If I didn't press the button during the hard accel it would upshift when I let off. That was about all it did. When the tranny was not in sport mode, it would initiate a downshift when passing. If I floored it but didn't push hard enough to press the button it would downshift 1 gear (to 4th), if I hit the button it would drop to 3rd

I never noticed it to disengage the A/C compressor, but it could have.
