  1. My daughter is in pre-k and they have 4 centers I believe.  They have the play center, the art center, a reading center, and I have no idea what the other area is used for.  She is in a class of 4 and 5 year olds. Hope that helps.

  2. Well, I would think that this could be easily found in your text book....couldn't it?  I want to answer this for you but it goes against everything early childhood education is about. I want to see what you can find simply by reading your book or by offering what you think could be happening at these centers.  Look this up and you can write me back.  I would use the NAEYC as a resource for you to investigate.  This is a very publicized area of child development that has tons of resources.  You could "own" this yourself.  Look it up.....write me back......I will discuss this with you!!

  3. I guess if you are a mother and/or a teacher, this really, REALLY worries me why you are asking this question! I hope you are neither.

They are children learning to DEVELOP their muscles, their hand-to-eye coordination, their overall vision, their learning abilities of objects, colors, sounds and words.

Those stations are set up to help assist that stage of their lives.  Without the preschool environment, they would learn, of course, but much slower....and without the interaction of other children and adults.  It helps children learn what can and cannot be done, look for help, and/or accomplish doing small tasks by themselves.

It helps to teach communication, thinking skills, and interaction with others to develop every aspect of a human being.

  4. Blocks for example is pre-math stuff. Measuring, guessing and checking, full sizes, half, quarter etc as well as three dimensional thinking.

The writing centre is obvious !! To allow children to experiment with writing/drawing/holding the pen or pencil fine motor skills.

Dramatic play allows children to explore everything from problem solving to sharing and just having fun!
