In a contact lens prescription, is the AXIS really an important feature?

i mean when buying contacts online..i know all values except the axis..is there any default value i can use for axis n both eyes?

  1. The axis is important.  A good default value would be zero.

    How do you know that you have astigmatism with contacts lenses on?  Find out.


  2. If you have a prescription for lenses to correct astigmatism, the axis will be on the prescription.

    You certainly can't guess at the axis...the axis is what determines whether you will see with them or  not.

    If your prescription looks something like

    OD - 2.00

    OS -  2.25

    Then that is just a spherical correction, there will be no cylinder, therefore no axis.

    I'm really curious how you " know" all the values...do you even  have a prescription for contacts ?
