  1. Demos means people.  So in a democratic society, the only thing we can say is that the people (the demos) have a say in their own organization (city, state, nation).  The point I am getting to is no one can possibly answer your question without knowing the form of democracy your "society" has.  So all of the answers may be not true for a given democratic society.

    e. for example, is not true if all of the other answers are not true.  Let's just assume the U.S. is a democratic society.  Not saying it is, but let's just assume it.  Then d. may not be true because the common people elect an Electoral College during federal elections and not the executive branch of their government.  c. may not be true because there are clearly disenfranchised segments of U.S. society...like s*x offenders for example.  b. may not be true for the same reason cited for d.  In addition to the Electoral College, many city governments have council members who vote for the government officials; not the common folk.  a. may not be true if the voters choose to form a vigilante group and patrol our borders for illegal immigrants.

The point is this, in a democracy, the people can opt to make any one or more of your statements not true.  Democracy can take on many forms and not all of them provide the benefits indicated by your statements.
