  1. soup, depending on where you go, if you have soup and salad, then your soup would get cold if served after your salad, then you can also enjoy your salad with your meal or entree

    2)Order whatever you like (there is more than soup or salad on the menu)

    3)Start with the knife, fork, or spoon that is farthest from your plate, work your way in, using one utensil for each course.

    4)When you are done with the course, rest your fork, tines up, and knife blade in, with the handles resting at five o'clock an tips pointing to ten o'clock on your plate

    5)Do not talk with your mouth full. Chew with your mouth closed.

    6)Leave a tip that can vary from 15% to 25%.

  3. I take it this is an American thing?

    The soup / salad question would never happen in a British restaurant.  Starter / fish / sorbet / main / dessert.  No salad / soup option, we just dont do that.
