We have seen 2 flats, one on 1st floor, one on top floor, both are the same rent, both furnished. How do we decide??

  1. The top floor of course... jeez.

  2. personally i wud go for the top floor, simply because it will save on heating bills in the winter as u will get heat from the levels below u but 1st floor wud be ok for that aswell (and less stairs to walk up) as long as its not ground i spos!

  3. Go for 1st floor as Water pressure will be more when it comes till 1st floor as well as sweet and good exercise going  till 1st floor , there wont be problem even when lift doesn't work. top floor is not a good idea as water pressure will be less and rain smashes through easily and it will be too hot in summer on the other hand 1st floor will be cool in summer and no water problem, no lift problem,no rain problem . . .

  4. stairs are great exercise and on the top floor you won't have anyone walking on your head (noise) and on top floor corner - it gets even better - you have to decide what works best for you - however first floor is easier to break into as well - good luck

  5. I would take the top floor - IF there is an elevator. That is the only one that will have minimal noise issue since you have no one above you.

If there is no elevator - I would think about the 1st floor and how much the noise of the person above me would bother me versus having to walk up 3 flights of stairs.

  6. Without a doubt the top floor. You have views, it feels like you are in a house not a flat, and you don´t have anyone banging about over your head. The only downside is the stairs. I presume this is in a house converted into flats, therefore no lift. That is a struggle with shopping, prams, bikes etc. But hey, how many times do you need to carry stuff up and down....the top floor for me is always the best. I live in Spain, and have lived in  alot of flats over the many years I´ve been here, I eventually bought a penthouse flat with sea views, it was worth it.

  7. Are there stairs or a lift? If stairs I'd go for the 1st floor. Me, lazy??! If there is a lift then its up to you, would you feel safer on the top floor? Plus you wouldn't get any upstairs neighbour noises if you were on the top floor....

    Good luck!

  8. I'd choose the top floor. You only have one neighbour to annoy you. You have the best views and the only disadvantage is getting things up and down.

  9. Top floor every time - cheaper heating bills and no insomniacs living above you and walking about on their wooden floors in clogs every night.

  10. First floor advantage - No stairs, making it easier to move furniture; if a fire breaks out, easier to get out

Top floor advantage - nice view; won't hear stamping feet from above.

Disadvantages, well the opposite to the above.

  11. Definately the top floor as you wont get the sound from overhead tenants.
