Traditionally, does the Maid of Honor wear the same gown as the Bride's Maids? Or does she have a dress all her own?

  1. Traditionally, yes to both questions!

    Same dress, different color

    OR

    different dress, same color!

OR as the bride pleases these days!

  2. It all depends on how you want to do it.  I've been to weddings where I've seen the bridesmaids and the maid of honor wear the same dress.  I've seen the bridesmaids and the maid of honor wear dresses of the same color, but similar designs (ex:  the bridesmaids dresses may be strapless, but the maid of honor's dress has spaghetti straps or has one strap across the back).  the thing is, stick to the same color and material.  try to see if one dress you'd like your bridesmaids and/or maid of honor to wear comes in different styles.  Then, choose the one you want your bridesmaids to wear and choose another style for your maid of honor.

  3. It does not matter!

I like the ideal of same color different dress!

I saw one wedding wear the MOH had  different flowers from the rest of the bridal Party!

  4. Either way is fine, but sometimes a matron after havng kids being married awhile does not necessarily qualify to wear a young s**y bridesmaid's dress. Depends on the dress, and the matron, what she can and can't and won't  and will wear.

  5. Traditionally, I've seen many of them wearing the same dress same color.  Your guests know she's the maid of honor because she stands closest to you.

That said, I love the idea of the maid of honor wearing a different dress or different color.

    Good luck, and congratulations.

  6. It can go either way...sometime the MOH will wear a different color or different color sash (what I'm doing) to show that she's different. But most traditional weddings have her in the same dress. But who says you have to be traditional?

  7. Traditionally the Maid of Honor wears a dress in similar style and color but the dress is different from the brides maids so you can tell the difference, like her dress might be a darker or lighter shade than the bride's maids dresses or it could be a different style color and everything.  All of that is up to the bride to choose

  8. Traditionally I think the maid of honor wears the same dress as the other bridesmaids.  However, if it's your wedding, you can have your MOH in a different dress if you want.  I've seen some weddings where all the maids are in different dresses.

  9. All the weddings I have been to the maid of honor wears the same dress as the other bridesmaids.  That being said, my sister (who is my MOH) and I have talked about the other girls wearing knee length dresses and hers being full length to make it a bit different.  You can really do it either way.

  10. In a traditional, I think she wears the same dress with a slight variation to set her apart from the others. But it can really be whatever the couple wants. If you want half the wedding party in stripes and half in neon green poka dots, then that's what it will be!

  11. You can have it either way. I've seen the Maid of Honor in a different dress with the same color; I've seen the Maid of Honor wearing the same style dress as the bridesmaids but in a different color and I've seen the maid of honor wear the same dress as the bridesmaids.

You can also give the Maid of Honor a bigger bouquet - smaller then yours, but bigger then the rest of the bridesmaids.
