  1. 8 ball in the middle

on the outside  its solid-stripe-solid-stripe all the way around

2 stripes or 2 solids should not be next to one another

.....when racking 8-ball i "color code" the balls, byputting the  same color  solid and stripe next to one another

    for 9-ball

they go in order   (9 in middle)

            1

           2 3

         4 9 5

           6  7

             8

buy baby powder or somethinig like it for your hands

    (helps the stick slide better)

  2. The numbers don't matter. Only where you place the black and the large or small (skivvies or singlets or what ever you choose to call them) balls.

    See:

  3. Now that we've got all the wrong answers out of the way (with the exception of Johnny's of course), here's the right one:

In 8 ball, the 8 goes in the middle, and one ball of each group goes on each of the bottom corners. All other balls are distributed randomly. It doesn't matter where any of the numbers go, since they are completely arbitrary. If both a stripe or solid is in both of the bottom corners, the rack is NOT correct. This question has been asked very recently.

In 9 ball, the one goes in the front, the 9 goes in the middle, and all other balls are distributed randomly. They do NOT need to be in any specific order.

These, and all other rules associated with the most correct way to play can be found at the BCA or WPA website.

  4. There are a couple of ways but i always go for the alternate colours on the outside

  5. Well, it depends on what game you are playing. In 9-ball you want the nine ball in the middle of the diamond cluster(you only use balls 1-9)

In 8-ball you need to have the eight ball in the middle of the cluster, and on the bottom corners place one striped ball and one solid on either end, doesn't matter which.

*The 1-ball should be at the very top for both games.

Play around with your new pool table. Every table is a little different dependant on it's condition. Some rails are 'dead' which means the ball doesn't get much rebound. *Watch your angles and where you hit the cue ball, it makes a difference. **English is a term for the spin of the cue ball. Whichever way you spin the cue ball the other ball will spin opposite. This can make all the difference in tight angle shots.

Practice up! I want you at your best for our match.....you bring the beer ;)

  6. The proper way to rack the balls up is to put them in the triangle.Ball one goes in the very front, balls two and three go behind it. ( ball two an the left and ball 3 on the right) just follw that pattern all the way through. Hope this helps.

  7. Just go to the BCA website all the info you are looking for

  8. 8 ball tourniment requires placement of one ball in the front of the triangle 8 ball directly behind it one corner is solid one is strip though doesnt matter which is which rest is just placed in the rack.  other person had 9 ball correct.

hope u paid to have it profesionally set up as it isnt as easy as it looks for a proper game.  spend money on decent cues once u get foundementals down.  but wait for a while. play often it helps and play different people often each person has own playing style that well help u better ur game.  i suggest 9 ball just because it forces u to take harder shots then 8 ball as u only have one object ball to choose from at a time.  good luck any questions email me

  9. The white one is for hitting.
