  1. The White Queen goes on a light square, the Black Queen on a dark square ("Queen on color").

  2. the king sit on opposite colour

  3. queen sits on own color i think

  4. They way I used to tell my students was the Queens dress must match her shoes.

If she is wearing a black dress then she "needs" a black square.  If she is wearing a white dress then she "needs" a white square.

Like all married men, the king takes what is left.

  5. If you are white, your King goes on e1, if you are black your king goes on e8. Instead of trying to remember rhymes colors and all other sorts of tricks. Simply remember the facts.

You need a light square on the lower right hand side of the board. VERY IMPORTANT

    The White king-e1

    Black king-e8.

  6. The king sits on the opposite color.

I always liked to remember it as the reason they were fighting in the first place. He's claiming the other color. :)

  7. the queen always sits on her own colour , therefore if your black the queen will be on the black square so you know king is on white and vise versa
