  1. I strongly suspect that MOST riders would go SLOWER in that gear than in a 53/15 or 17 simple because it's too big a gear for most riders to turn very fast. IF THE RIDER COULD CRANK IT at 90 rpm they would go about 30 mph.  But generally, except for strong sprinters that type of gear is best left for downhills or strong tailwinds by mere mortals.


  2. That's a pretty big gear. At about 85 rpm, that's about 27mph. 110 rpm is about 36 mph. Pretty impressive on flat ground if you can maintain it for a decent distance. Usually those gears are for downhill or for strong tailwinds.
