In a hunters education class do need to bring a gun in texas and if so witch is the best for me

This depends on the class.

In Texas if you take the online class you must have a range day. If you take the classroom class then range day is optional and the instructor chooses if there is a range day.

If you have a range day ask the instructor if they want shotgun or rifle.

They will then set the rules for the range day.

When my 10yr daughter took her range day the instructor told her to bring what she would be using in the field. He fell out when she removed a Remington 700 in 308. He let her shoot it.

Can a 14 year old handle the recoil of a S&W Model 29?  Depends.  Most people don't realize that in the Seventies movies made popular by the 'Dirty Harry' character he was NOT shooting full-power .44 Magnum ammo in his S&W Model 29.  At the range Dirty Harry  admitted to other officers who were shooting Colt Python .357 Magnums that his own Model 29 recoiled less than their Pythons.  This was in part because his .44 was a heavier frame gun and he was shooting lighter than full-power .44 Magnum ammo.  So if you load up your Model 29 with .44 Special ammo, rather then .44 Magnum ammo, you should do fine with it.  The weight of the gun itself will damp a lot of the recoil.

before i ever saw your age i knew it was a bs answer.why would a person carry a handgun to a hunter education class?your are full of it and need to grow up. all you have to doi is call the place where you take the course and ask.

I'm not sure about in Texas but usually they supply you a .22 for range day.

that is a silly question. you don't take any gun much less a hand gun its hunter education not shootin practice. take your birth certificate with you and sit all the way down in the chair and listen and learn.
