In a job interview how do you sell an item?

I'm going to a boots interview soon and I hear they make you 'sell' an item to them. Can anyone tlel me how to do this? I really have no idea. E.g. Shampoo?

well, you should try and persuad them to buy the item. explain the benefits a person could have if they buy. be calm and not too pushy over it. also asks ur friends or family members you know who are working in such companies.

start watching the shopping channels, basically you have to talk cr@p about something boring for five minutes making it as attractive to the other person as you can!

Ok In my experience what they are looking for is your ability to sell. All you have to do is descrbe the benefits of the item your supposed to be selling and try to state something factual.

What their really looking for is your personality and ability to cope under pressure.

So if it was me on the spot I would say

"Well as you can see this shampoo provides the basic cleaning ingredients for a decent hair wash, its priced competitively and it's green colour comes from a unique organic mint leaving your hair healthy and chemically friendly".

Get the idea! Your educating and pointing out the benefit of the product.

Candidate A

Interviewier - "sell me this pen"

Interviewee - " eh wel... eh it eh!!!"

Result = unsuccessful

Sample B

Interviewer " sell me this pen"

Interviewee " This pen is a ball park ben and is a porven but reliable writing instrument, unlike orindary bic pens it's silver body gives it a professional look and complements one's appearance"

Just don't worry about it and talk about it's good points and educate the interviewer about the benefits of what ever it is your selling. If you need a few seconds to come up with something - just ask. They would appreciate you may need a few seconds to make something up and it demonstrates you can think.
