Question:

In a keeper league, would you trade Steelers rookie RB Mendenhall for Michael Turner in Atlanta? ?

I know this seems like an easy trade to make. The guy offered Turner to me for a rookie who will get less carries than Parker... but I think Mendenhall will end up being the goal line guy for Pittsburgh. And defenses are going to stack the line to stop Turner and make the Falcons passing game beat them... right? It's not such an easy move to make for me. But I have to consider it. Keep in mind.... this is a keeper league. Mendenhall has a huge future in Pittsburgh perhaps. I already have L.T. and Brandon Jacobs for this league. I only have to start 2 backs per week. My current back ups are Mendenhall and Warrick Dunn. What does everyone think?

  1. I think you trade for Turner, he has the better upside this season and what is the likelihood you keep Mendenhall this season when you have LT and Jacobs to keep for next year.  Unless you think Mendenhall will pass Parker this season its probably not worth keeping him.

  2. I think  you still make the trade. With Jacobs and his bruiser running style, he proved last year that he will probably miss at least a couple of games and it looks like they want to employ a RBBC with multiple backs. IF Eli has really developed like he showed in last years playoffs and this year preseason with Hixon, then they may look to rely a little more on his arm as well as the RBBC.

Turner provides more value this year as he will get the majority of carries and even in a keeper, I don't see the Steelers getting rid of Parker anytime soon. The early word is Parker is the one that will get the goal line carries. Mendenhall kind of hurt himself with that fumble in yesterdays game too.
