  2. Generally any information that would violate the atty/client relationship is always immune from discovery

    this includes any information that would reveal an opposing parties strategy and opinions on matters within the cas

Information isn't protected from discovery, but certain communications are.  The law considers several types of communications to be "privileged" which means that they cannot be discovered.  Among the privileges, the attorney-client confidential communication privilege is the strongest.  Nevertheless, nothing is "always" protected from discovery.  Even attorney-client privileged communications can be waived.  I hope this information is useful.
