  1. Can you find someone in the community that can translate for you? This is a sticky situation because you are not completely sure the translator is saying the correct thing, and sometimes words mean different things across cultures. But perhaps there is an older child in the family that can translate, or perhaps a high school student?  I'd start looking there if you can.

Does the family go to a church? You could try with church officials to find out if they have a translator or know of someone who could help out. Or check your local schools - just call the high school up to find out if they have kids or even a teacher who speaks the language of the family you need to communicate with.

    Good luck.

  2. You can goole any translation and print out cards with the information you need to pass on , and use them to help with the parent who has little English , they are also handy for signs to put up too....

  3. Learn a bit of the language, they are bound to know some English. What you do is speak like, primitive, simple words.
