  1. on offensethe forwards float around the block, in the lane, and along the baseline mostly. the center stays within or near the lane as much as possible unless the center is a good shooter like mehmet okur or yao ming. the guards usually stay along the top and direct the team.

if they get the tip you usualy should just play man on man. its very simple and every1 knows how to do that.

if a play is run or not is up to the point guard or coach. if a coach wants a play ran, he will signal the pg and shout the play, and the pg will relay it to the rest of the team. the coach would have you practice the plays in practice.

if the coach wants you to run a certain defensive set he will shout where you can all hear him. you will have also practiced these at practice.

if a team wins the tipoff they get possesion of the ball first and in the 4th quarter.

the team that loses the tip gets possesion of the ball in the 2nd and 3rd quarters.

note: you stole my name! i had that name first!

  2. well, usually when its a tip in my coach says if we lose it. we all go back and form a zone to stop the transition. if we win, the normal thing my coach would do is since one of the guards is behind the center, which is where he usually tips it, once he gets it the other guard runs to the corner while a forward cuts through the middle so its kinda like a 2 pass fast break, and ill tell u..its an easy 2 points =p

  3. As a coach, I have a play designed for either an Offensive tip or a Defensive tip.  Depends on how confident my Center is about getting the tip as to which one we set up in. Offensively, we are going for a lay up off the tip,  Defensively we are trying to make sure they don't get one.

  4. Generally not all players line up in the circle. At least one player should be back to defend against a sudden fast break. The circle should have quick handed players set up and ready to take off down the court for the layup.

Defensively though, most players will stand by their opposing number.

When I coach I tell my guys to treat it like a defensive posession and to just try and steal the ball.

  5. you don't play any kind of sports. why do you care?
