in a parallel circuit, if one resistor is 6ohms and the other is

i)infinite ohm

ii)zero

whats the voltage across them suppose the p.d across it is 10V

  1. 1) equivalent of an open and 6 ohms in parallel is 6 ohms, and the current is 10/6 amps. voltage is 10 volts.

    2) equivalent of a short and 6 ohms in parallel is 0 ohms, and the current is infinite, or as much as the battery can put out. Voltage is 10 volts theoretically, but in practice it is zero.

  2. Good answer bilruss... I go with your answer too. Parallel voltages are always the same. If 10 volts is supplied to first resistor, it happens to be the same as in the 2nd resistor. Infinite ohm means open circuit and zero ohm means short circuit.
