isolation keeps one's integrity from being affected by the viral world, why wouldn't it be wise to do so in such world, right?

  1. Yes, its the mark of wisdom. Its no coincidence that wise men are always mentioned as living a lonely life away from the mass of humanity.

Humans have a tendency to become selfish to the extreme something that a wise person would always detest.

  2. Not everybody is like that though.

Isolation removes you from good things as well as bad.

  3. it's always worked for me....nothing i can't stand than having to deal with the stupidity that is the average person on the street......

but also, in my career and my position as senior management, i have to keep myself isolated from most people in order to keep my perspective on the employee/management relationship....

in general, i find keeping to myself keeps me happy and sane and away from the ignorance, treachery and general dishonesty that is the world we live in today....and i'm always left shaking my head and being thankful that i'm who i am and not one of the masses

EDIT: quite the range of answers you got there aren't they? but i have to take exception with the comment below that people aren't ignorant as we think they are....I am  someone with a masters with honors and a solid stable career in senior management.....most people are as ignorant as i think they are, and they don't give a d**n that they are clueless...those are the worst kind, the ones that don't know how ignorant they are.....and if you need proof, just look at how many people are so wrapped up in sitcoms and reality shows....just goes to show the overall intellectual state of the world that these types of things would hold people's attention so broadly and completely

  4. I'd say no. There is a slight correlation, but not all or not even most isolated people are wise (a good portion are probably just insane), and most wise people are not isolated.

Even in an ideal world, wisdom is best when put into practice; ie when you're not isolated.

  5. I agree completely, fighting back and sharing only creates chaos for you, because most people aren't ignorant as you suggest, they just don't give a d**n. Isolation is a good method for keeping your wits intact, but it can also be very lonely. ;-)

  6. fight back. ignorance and abuse should receive what they deserve.

    fight back

  7. What good is wisdom locked away in an ivory tower?  The wise will be wise, wherever they are.

  8. how wise are you really if you allow the ills of the world to affect you own wisdom? wisdom stems from holding true to what is inside not to what effects us from the outside
