  1. split them into groups of ability. You dont have to name them smart and dumb ( you can have 3 or 4 groups if you like) but they'll get the idea pretty quick. dont ever spend all your time with the later or the smart kids will hate you always. Its worked in grade 4 best year of school ever. even the not so bright kids thought it pretty d**n decent

  2. The main provision is that you present material in multiple formats, so that students who learn best in different ways each have the opportunity to understand the material in their own ways.  You make yourself available to talk to individual students, so that those who could not learn during the regular class session have another chance to talk with you.  The other thing I can think of that I've done is to put supplemental materials online at both the low and high end of the class spectrum, so that students who were lacking the basics could pick up additional basic material without slowing down the rest of the class, while those who were ahead of the curve could read more challenging material and feel that they were not wasting their time.  That last one would depend on the level of the students, though.  I've used it with college students, not kindergarteners!

  3. Not all students learn at the same rate or pace, but you cannot meet the goals of all if you foster growth in your best student.  You also cannot foster growth in all if you teach at the pace of your slowest learner.  This is true whether you have all bright students or are a hodge podge of classes, abilities, and ethnic backgrounds.  Also, as one poster pointed out, NCLB is going to limit your abilities to provide on an individual scale.

  4. THANKS TO NCLB, YOU DON'T.
