I'm wondering if I should just put a qualifications section or an objective section or both. I'm new to this resume stuff so I'm not quite sure what i should do any suggestions?

  1. As a manager who reviews resumes I can tell you this, the less we have to read the better. Wordy resumes are annoying and quite often get tossed in the garbage.

I would combine the two concepts in your Objective section. Something along the lines of "To obtain a full time position in the field of <insert field> that will utilize my strong <insert skill> and experience in <insert experience>" Short, to the point, effective.

And PLEASE use spell check. Just a friendly reminder. :)

  2. You can put both in.

Personally I find the objective statement to be kind of cheesy unless you have a very specific direction that you are going.  Like your work experience is both management and non-management, but you're only interested in management positions.

  3. A lot of businesses now are leaning toward skills based resumes. What you do it list your skills is varied areas - I.e.

    "Marketing

Have managed advertising campaigns in excess of _______

    etc....

    etc...."

at the top of the resume while listing your work history on one line so that if you do run to two pages, your qualifications are all right up at the top for easy scanning. You can find examples with a net search.
