In afl why do the victorians teams have their premiership wins before afl established.?

If they get to have the premiership wins why cant port adelaide have their premiership wins from sanfl ( south australian football league).

This is a good question, and this answer will bring a lot controversy, but its fact and honest. It is not fair and not right, for any Victorian side to have so many premierships won in AFL history only (AFL history only) when these sides have won thier premierships in the old VFL days.

We are in a comp called AFL, which was etablished 1990.

The decade begins a new era in the game, the Victorian Football League becomes the Australian Football League, acknowledging the national expansion, with clubs now in Sydney, Queensland & Perth, and the league adopts the much more national official name.

By rights Port Adelaide can say that they have won 54 premierships and Adelaide has won all the premierships combined in the SANFL plus the 2 AFL ones. Victorians are all biased and sooner they open their eyes and  relise this AFL comp is bigger than Victoria, the better the game will be.

because basically any way you look at it the AFL is the old VFL with a few new sides from interstate joining in, Sydney is an old melb side that shifted then changed its name so it would attract the Sydney market,bris is a new side that combined with an old melb side (Fitzroy) then you have Adelaide and west coast which are totally new sides with no history except in the AFL and lastly pt Adelaide and freo which desperately wanted to join the new so called national comp years after it had been formed, so don't kid your self interstate people i.e (big kev) you all joined the best comp at the time which was the VFL with a different name and now you enjoy the best of both worlds i.e SANFL and AFL or WAFLand AFL while we can only follow the AFL,nothing biased just the truth.merry Xmas
