  1. (- 2) (- 4) - 3 (1)

    8 - 3

    5

  2. Put -4 where x is and put 1 where y is, this is called substitution

    -2(-4) - 3(1)

    Then just calculate it...

    = 8 - 3

    = 5

  3. Just substitute -4 for x and 1 for y

    -2(-4) - 3(1)

    8-3=5

  4. Substitute the values of x and y and solve:

    -2 (-4) - 3 (1) =

    8 - 3 = 5

  5. = - 2x - 3y

    = - 2(- 4) - 3(1)

    = 8 - 3

    = 5

    Answer: 5

  6. -2x-3y

    -2(-4)-3(1)

    8-3=5

    answer=5
