  1. We have two screws that secure the skimmer into the wall of the pool.  We generally have the water just above the lower s***w at minimum which would be about 1/3 of the way up.  You want to make certain that you can get good circulation.  It seems that if the water is higher, the circulation isn't as good; the pull into the filter not as strong, so we try to keep it at the 1/3 mark unless we get a good strong rain - then it's a great time to do a backwash!
