I was asking in case something happens to me while I am home with my 2 yo, I wanted to ensure dailing 0 could get police to come out. Someone told me 0 couldn't trace but 911 definitely could. Just want to teach my daughter the best effective way.

  1. Both can be traced; it depends on how your local phone system is setup.

However, dialing 911 will get you the local emergency operator, whereas dialing zero (operator) might get you the phone company's operator, who might be clear across the state or country, and not be able give you the timely help you need, without asking a dozen questions as to your location, nature of emergency, etc; I don't think you want to put your daughter through that ordeal.

So, teach your daughter to dial 911 (after you teach your daughter how to pick up the phone and she gets accustomed to the dial tone, disconnect the phone jack before dialing, so that you don't accidentally dial either (or any) number, which could get you into serious legal trouble, and, in some cases, could even get your phone blocked from 911 services).

  2. of course they can. they have high tech stuff to track who calling. even on cell phone they can find out whos calling.

so dont **** with them and joke around with them

  3. Dialing 0 will go to the operator and most cases you number wont be displayed , and if you are dialing in continuesly then thay can trace.
