In an out door fire place with gas logs do I open the flue?

cute cliff.....my OUTDOOR fieplace has no flue!!

technically, you will not need to do so with a gas log set.  But that doesn't mean you shouldn't.  If the damper is closed and you have depris in the log set, you'll have smoke everywhere in a few seconds.

It depends on the type of gas logs. If they are designated "vented" logs then yes, open the flue or you will get black soot (similar to wood) on the outside of you fireplace. If they are designated "vent free" logs they you can leave it shut.
