You get feathers by donating bells to the poverty stricken town of Boondox at the left side of town hall.

Green Feather- Donate 10,000 Bells

Blue Feather- Donate 200,000 Bells

Yellow Feather- Donate 500,000 Bells

Red Feather- Donate 800,000 Bells

Purple Feather- Donate 1,100,000 Bells

White Feather- Donate 1,400,000 Bells

Rainbow Feather- Donate 6,400,000 Bells

Also note that the amounts you donate are cumulative. Meaning once you donate 10k for the first feather...you only need to donate 190k more to get the next one making the TOTAL donation 200k. Hope that makes sense.

They are simple accessories you can wear in your hair. Very expensive ones at that. However, if you have the extra bells and you want to complete everything, then I'd say get them. They really do look cute when you wear them.

Also, if you want the other feathers too, donate them in order, starting from the green, then slowly rising in price.

You can only get a Rainbow Feather once, so if you try again on another character, you won't get it.

IF you donate 6,400,000 bells, then you won't get the other feathers, just the Rainbow one. So I'd suggest writing down how much you donate each time, so you can get every one. If you donate like 11,000 at one time then you won't get the green feather, etc.
