In applying for a top B-school, approx. how many Ws are maximally acceptable in an undergraduate transcript?

  1. If it's a pattern, as in it looks like you dropped one or more several terms because things got tough, it's a problem. If you dropped four courses one term because of some issue, that's less of a worry. Bottom line, if you have a great GPA with tough classes, you're probably OK.

    When you're talking top programs--Harvard, Wharton, Stanford level, they get so many stellar candidates that any issue is, well, an issue. However at these schools excellence on the job trumps all. If you've had a great job with significant responsibilities that you've performed consistently in for 3-5 years, undergrad is just in the background to confirm academic capability.
