I am working at walmart got hired part time. they are cutting the fulltime hours from 40 down to 36. I was hired for part time yet im working 35 hours a week and they refuse to hire me as fulltime. is this legal?

  1. It really depends on where you work. I have also worked for Walmart and Sam's Club. Yes, it is legal, because written in your hand book is stated what is full and what is part time. Changing their minds is okay, as long as they give sufficient notice. Sufficient notice is under the discretion of Walmarts lawyers. Part time, when I was working there in 2001, was up to 34 hours. The only people they hired full time was the CSRs and other management.

    The school systems in AZ typically have a 35 hour work week that is considered full time.  


  2. In the state of Arizona employers can do darn near whatever they want.

    If you were to dispute this with the company I'm pretty certain they would be happy to provide you with the complete details.
