  1. The rubber game of any series in any sport is the tie-breaker game, the one that will determine the winner.  In baseball, you hear it often referred to in a three-game series if the teams split the first two.  You also often hear it referred to in card games like whist or bridge.

    (Actually, I -never- hear anyone refer to those games at all, because I don't know anyone who plays them, but in circles where people do, you hear it.)


  2. Taken from Rubber bridge, the term rubber game is used to describe the deciding game of a series. Generally the term is not used to describe the deciding game of a playoff series, but is normally limited to describing the third game of a three game regular season series when the two teams have split the first two games.
