  1. Spain definitely put up a good fight against the USA in the gold medal game.  If a few shots or calls would've went differently, Spain could've won.  Outside of the USA, basketball leagues are constantly improving.  By 2012, the competition will probably be even tighter.  A number of teams may be in the gold medal race.

  2. I think so if you take into account that most of the spanish player are pretty young and lot of them will have NBA experience by then. Look at the spanish by age:

    Rubio 17 will be 21

Marc Gasol 23 will be 27(in his prime)

Pau Gasol 27 will be 31(Great age for a center)

Fernandes 23 will be 27( in his prime)

Then you add the Calderon and Navarro I think they have a great chance!

  3. yes, spain is getting better and better everyday

  4. that depends. The only way we can find out is by watching the nba. Remember all those USA players come from the nba, so by observing those new upcoming NBA players, we willl soon find otu if Spain will beat USA in London.

  5. Against the same core team USA, the answer is no. Plus USA has much deeper pool of talent while other teams are vulnerable to one or two injuries to their key players ( Yao, Manu, Gasol ). Argentina had that window of opportunity in 2004 with a very talented team and USA shot itself in the foot by assembling a patch up team. 4 years older, Manu can't even finish the game. Spain and the other teams will have good team but can't win in 2012 with the same players against this same Team USA. But if most of these nba stars don't play by then, theres that window of opportunity again.

  6. not necessarily Spain, but USA can be beaten. they still could win gold but they will not sweep

  7. London2012 is 4 years away, very far away. In 4 years, the current basketball players can retire (athletes retire very early) and new ones can begin their career. The athletes can be better or worse than the old ones, deciding (basically) who will win. Also don't forget other countries, China for example, and others might just come up and the USA and Spain might not even be the gold medal contestants of 2012.

Watch the NBA, if the basketball players of the NBA are very good you know which way the game will swing, but if they are bad...

Also from a personal point of view I think the USA will win (I'm American) because basketball was (past tense) our sport, and the game is a bigger game here in the US than in any other country.

  8. USA 2008 team is a young team on a whole

so if some choose to remain in the USA programme for 2012, then i dont see why they cant get back to back Olympic Golds..

if players like LBJ, Wade, Melo, CP3, D.Will, Howard decide to stay on, the team will only get better. And when u include future prospects like OJ, Beaseley etc.. they will be a beast come 2012!
