  1. Josh Paul: great passer, great speed, great agility, great stealer/defender, and a decent outside shooter. Simply a great all-around athlete.

  2. 1) Magic Johnson - Passing. 2) Isiah Thomas - Scoring

  3. john stockton - purest point guard in history

very standard passes with not fancy tricks like behind the back, yet gets the job done.  also, he is a pretty decent scorer.  but his passing, play set up, and leadership are all that matters for a PURE point guard.

  4. Magic Johnson...But john stockton is a close second...and he would be first if you're going off PURE point guard skills

  5. magic Johnson

  6. Magic Johnson.  There's no one even close.

  7. Stockton was the perfect point guard.

    Magic was better.

Magic was more of an old-school "guard" (as opposed to "Point Guard") than Stockton was.   Magic was not only a great passer who made his teammates better (as did Stockton), Magic had the mentality and killer instinct to take over games offensively himself when he had to.   This made him more of an old school "guard" in the tradition of Oscar Robertson, Jerry West and Walt Frazier.

I'm not crazy about "point guards" who can't shoot and "shooting guards" who can't put the ball on the floor.  I like real "guards".   Stockton had the skills to be a real guard. He shot 51.5% for his career, and not with a ton of layups (he usually produced layups for other guys).   He had a great, and I mean a GREAT jump shot from 18 feet on in.  And he could nail a 3 when he had to.

Contrary to popular belief, Magic didn't go behind his back very much, even when he was younger. A lot of highlight reels show him doing that, but he did it as a highlight, not as a matter of regular routine.  He would simply cross over from one had to the other.  He'd often palm the ball (and get away with it) when he did that.  Magic was probably the first guy to consistently get away with palming the ball. It's really because of him that palming violations started to all but disappear from the game.  Now it's done all the time... and they have Magic to thank for it.   Makes the game a whole lot easier to play.

  8. haaaaa.magic johnson

  9. Oscar Robertson.

  10. tiny archibald

  11. Magic Johnson hands-down if you ask me...he could do it all on the court and what really separated him from everyone else was his leadership skills- he always kept everyone on the same page and was practically a player-coach on the floor...arguably the greatest PLAYER of all time...

  12. What up Jekko115,

i think it would have to be Earvin "Magic" Johnson.  First of all it seems like more people remember his name as Magic than Earvin- why- because he was the master of making pinpoint no look passes.  Magic was not only a player who could get the job done- but he did it with style.

He did it with such style that they coined the term showtime for the fast-breaking style of basketball that the Lakers played- and he made a couple of average players look really, really good!!

He won 5 championships - during what can be arguably the best era of basketball and had it not been for a couple of injuries during a couple of playoff runs and the HIV virus- i think he could have won 7 rings easily and possibly 8 or 9.

If a point guard's job is to get the ball in a place where his teammates could best score and make his teammates better, while making crucial and right decisions during the game- Magic was the best there ever was!

  13. 'cmon, coming from a Celtics fan and a huge fan of the game, there is Magic, and then everyone else that played the position...

  14. Monta Ellis =P

  15. Magic Johnson

    Good Luck

  16. Charlie Bell hands down

  17. Magic Johnson

Stockton Was Good But Magic Was Much More Versatile And Could Impact A Game In More Ways Than Just Being A Plain Point Guard

  18. magic johnson

  19. john stockton i think because he led the jazz along with karl malone and the rest of the team to capture two time western conference champion and  2nd straight to NBA finals trip (but fall to Bulls led by Jordan).

  20. Gotta go with Magic Johnson.

Edit: This question is SO Original... there is a search button you can use.

  21. Easy, Magic Johnson

why?  He has very flashy passes, but very good ones to. He has a pure point gaurd in him and plays like a pure pg to.  But another thing special about him is, he can do that and grab rebounds and play center sometimes.  How many people in nba history can play good at PG and CENTER ?
