In battles between wasps and spiders, is it almost inevitable that the wasp wins?

Havfe never seen a spider win this fight on nature shows, perhaps because the wasp is immune to tarantula toxin. Is it possible for the wasp to lose?

  1. Most nature shows are staged - the wasp and spider both "know" what's coming.

It also depends on the kind of wasp and kind of spider.  I've seen wasps dead in spider webs, so at least some spiders are quite capable of killing and eating at least some wasps.

  2. The wasp can lose if the spider catches it by surprise, I've seen wolf spiders kill digger wasps by sheer luck of surprising them.

If you want to see wasp and spider battles look on YouTube, there are a lot on there.
