raised al ot of question in my head.

I mean about the way we understand incest.

I wander if in the animal world this happen and if it's just heritage of our predecessors, some genetic path still valid for some humans, or if it's purely a sociaty dictated tabu, what do you think?

  1. Watch a film titled "Close my eyes" written by Stephen Poliakoff, starring Clive Owen, the scrumptious Saskia Reeves, and, Alan Rickman.

  2. It's a taboo in most of today's modern cultures because being an incest creates genetically deformed babies.

  3. now a days so many children are born not aware of their true parentage that i believe in the not too far off future half siblings will meet and be attracted to each other. i live in a rural area and we have the jack the lad character who to common knowledge has fathered at least 7 kids to 5 different girls all kids around the same age and that's just in our village How many more in a 25mile radius. i believe children should be aware of who both their parents are so the are afforded informed choice when starting a relation ship for themselves

  4. genetics in animals work a bit differently when it comes to procreating.

  5. It's not purely socially dictated. The Jews found that children raised together in kibbutzes up to the age of six won't marry each other, humans have some sort of inbuilt aversion to mating with people we percieve as siblings.

Chimps often move from troop to troop to avoid inbreeding. they avoid their maternal siblings as mates (they can never really know who daddy is).

Also, our sense of smell usually find the smell of people related to us un-s**y. It's a long and complicated reason due to immune sysem genes (MHC). You only need one copy from each parent to give resistance to a type of illness, so you find sexually attractive the smell of people with a different set genes to get the most disease reistance genes. It's why your family stinks when they sweat, but your lovers just smell strongly.

The Egyptians pharaohs married their half sisters (different mothers) and they weren't raised together.

Even cousin marriages suppress IQ by a few points. Incest isn't a generally smiled upon by mother nature.

  6. this was not taboo in certain ancient cultures such as the ancient egyptians where the men would often marry their sisters to be consanguineous to the throne.
