In between Hong Kong's Octopus Card and the United Kingdom's Oyster Card, which one is better?

I know that HK's Octopus Card can be used in a lot of places (mostly because I live in HK) like the MTR Train System, Buses, Resturants, 7-11's, Supermarkets and to confirm identification at schools and office buildings. But because I've never tried the UK's Oyster Card, I want to know which one is better. And which one launched first?

Hong Kong Octopus card is better without a doubt.

The hong kong octupus card is an imitation of the oyster card. Because england ruled hk for 100 years thus they helped them develop the same system there. But i believe that the octupus card has more functions than just using it on the metro. So i would have to say the hong kong octupus card is better.

The Octopus card is amazing - I was so surprised at the number of places you could use it (although you do end up spending loads more money than you normally would).

and btw Hong Kong was a British colony for 156 years.
