  1. I'm not sure where who your writing to is going to boot camp, i was in parris island so that's all i know about. we got 1 hour in the evening after mail call to square our things away, that gives you time to read and write letters. it takes a little while for mail to get there, it would usually take a week for the sender to get my response back.

plus you have fire watch for an hour every other night so that gives you time to write letters.

  2. My boyfriend was just at bootcamp and he told me that sunday was the day that they got to write letters home, they took about 4 days to get from great lakes illinois to virginia where I live, no military mail does not get delivered faster. he might have some extra time to maybe write you two letters, but he is very busy right now. from what he has told me they have mail call every day i think twice a day!

    Hope I helped

  3. when i went to bootcamp for the navy we did mail call every night (when mail came in) and they gave us about 10-15 minutes to read the letters we got. its all gonna depend on  RDCs. for us sundays were kinda like "free days" and we just sat around the berthing and thats usually when everyone wrote letters and stuff. like i said though, it will all depend on whos in charge. hope this helps.

ps. sundays will be your favorite day cause they let you take showers as long as you want and you can just hang out with all of your new buddies and semi-relax. good luck, and remember that its all mind games. ive been in for 4 years and its super easy!!

  4. in conus (contenential usa) the military uses us mail.  it's same speed as your normal mail.

you can write a letter every day.. read one too.. but books? no time to read books.. you will probably want to shine your shoes.. do laundry or something besides reading books.. especially sleep.  that letter reading and writing will come out of your sleep time.. and .. you might have to wait a week or two after you get there before you can do even that.

everything's a privilege.. that's probably the first thing they teach you..

  5. You get mail everyday if you have mail to receive.  No reading anything but your mail, your training guide or a small bible, NO personal reading other than that.  The mail you will get will be very slow because of the mail load that comes onto base and because most people never address the envelope correctly so it floats until the real person can be found.  You did not say where you live but it is standard for a letter to take around a week to go cross country.  You will have around 3 hours on Sunday mornings to take care of letter writing, church if you choose to go, taking a better than usual shower, studying for school and getting your uniforms ready for the week.  You will have to choose what you want to do with that time.  Things like studying and getting your uniforms ready are extremely important so sitting on the deck writing letters will probably get bumped down on you things to do list as the weeks go by.  If you fail your tests in school they can set you back in training and then you will get stuck in boot camp even longer.  Not worth a huge wordy letter home to stay in boot camp longer and then be put in with a bunch of new people that are behind you a few weeks in training.  If you choose to go to Church you will have zero time life on Sunday to do anything else so you need to make the choice about what is important to you.  Sounds like you have a girl friend that is freaking about you going away.  If so the reality check is she better get used to being alone unless you are about to jump onboard with getting married at 18 to your teenage girl friend.  I highly discourage this so hopefully you figure out what is best for YOUR life before you leave.  Good luck and welcome aboard.

  6. sundays are the best days for a bit of rest... other days you're drained physically and mentally....

  7. ahhhh i dont know i mean i seen movie s where people are in their bunks reading and writing letters but it s just a movie so...

ask the director or whatever at the bootcamp

and NO military mail does not get th..... actually thats a good question but it depands where u are to get to its destonation

  8. We got mail call every evening and we had normally about 2 hours of free time before lights out. But there were things that needed to be done in those two hours. Military mail runs slower overseas than regular mail, in the states in runs like regular mail. Mail from anywhere interstate takes 3 to 5 days. These guys get exhausted physically and emotionally in boot camp. Be happy to get one letter a week. Expect less.
