In caring for house plants, what's the deal with the egg shells in their water? What do the eggs do?

And are they the shells from freshly used (raw) eggs or from boiled eggs?

  1. I remember someone telling me it put Calcium into the water. Don't know if it's true or not.


  2. egg shell prevent critters from eating your plants. I don't think it matters which shell. If it's indoor, you probably don't need them but if your outside plants need help, then I would outside.

  3. I don't know about the water thing, but if you put crushed egg shells around your outdoor plants (like a ring around them) it will keep the slugs off of them. Idea being they don't like oozing over the sharp edges on the shells
