I'm arriving at union station at 3:55 pm on a weekend, and think I need to catch a south shore train to porter or the dunes, in northern indiana. SO, does south shore also leave from union station? can't figure this out from the listing of stations they have for south shore trains, and am not very familiar with chicago. please help! thanks.

  1. To get on the South Shore line in Chicago you're going to have to get to Millenuim Station. The South Shore line doesn't go to Union Station. This website shows information about the South Shore line:    http://www.nictd.com/

I don't rememer how to get from Union to Millenium. Better call one of the stations for directions.

  2. I believe that the south shore trains leave from the Millennium park station which is approximately a 10 minute walk from union station.  If you have luggage I would suggest a cab which should cost 8 dollars with tip.  If you are walking, cross over the bridge towards the L tracks.  The entrance to the station is on Michigan ave.
