In chitting my first early spuds and some have gone soft,?

theyre in egg boxes in my boiler cupboard, will they be ok?

  1. you need to move them somewhere cool but frost free, and in the daylight, so the sprouts go dark purple/green instead of white.


  2. chitting what the h**l is that,speak english pommy,try swapping the spuds for eggs and you may have some luck hatching them into "chicks"

  3. yes, provided you can plant them in the next week or so, may be too warm near the boiler cupboard, outdoor shed would be better

  4. Chitting is a form of premature aging, so going soft is not a problem of itself.

    but they should be in the light.

    If you have a warm spot for earlies, eg in south facing tyres, or under flece then you could/should plant them out now.

  5. What are you keeping them warm for - they grow - they don't hatch ! -
