  1. In straight phase chromatography, more polar compounds elute slower for the same eluotropic strength of solvent.

    In reverse phase, more polar sompounds elute faster.

    If you are talking about the solvent, generally, the more polar the eluting solvent is, the faster a particular compound will be eluted.
