  1. No.

Especially since Coke is a patented product based on a copyrighted recipe.

The are not allowed to alter the recipe and still call it "Coke".

The adding of ice is not an alteration of the recipe.  Plus the dilution that occurs is what is expected by the purchaser and occurs AFTER the product is sold.

Coke is sold to dispenser distributors in a syrup form.  The "bubbly" is added from a canister that is also hooked to the dispenser.  If a malfunction occurs, or the canister runs out of gas, it is not the same as watering down your drink.

Watering down your drink is a purposeful event, and therefore illegal.

  2. its the way the coke is produced - its made in the cinema from a syrup which sparkling water is added , if the mix is wrong the drink will either taste syrupy or watery (if it was against the law they would not be able to add ice)

  3. Yes, it's called putting ice, lol.

  4. not really  but if you notice  they always fill your glass or cup with ice  more ice in a glass or cup  less liquid  , make sense, so we get'um shaft

  5. The canisters/boxes are hooked up to the dispenser by the Coke people to their standards.  I know when my Pepsi machine would get watery, it meant I needed to change the boxes/canisters because I was getting low.

Movie theaters, they're such a ripoff.  They pack your cup with ice to avoid giving you too much actual soda.  And fountain soda is CHEAP!  The actual cost to me for a glass of soda was something like 13 cents.  I charged $1.50 with free refills.  I get disgusted when I see something like $3-4 for a soda with NO refills.

  6. No

Also if you ask for "coke" you should only be served Coca Cola.

Some places try to fob you off with cheaper colas. Coke is a trade mark of Coca Cola.

You should never let people serve you a drink with ice already in it. Ice cubes take up a lot of space which means you get less of the drink. Always put your own ice in.

  7. If they did, then it would be breaking their agreement with the vendor. Coca-Cola wants consistency when it comes to their products.

Follow this link to bring the establishment to Coca-Cola's attention

  8. No they are not allowed to water it down but what they use is something called post mix it is a highly concentrated  mix that they use soda water with, what tends to happen is that the mix is not right or the post mix is running out so you get a very watery tasting drink, take it back and tell them that they need to add more post mix and the drink will then taste just perfect

  9. they just add more ice...

also if they have a bad water supply or dirty syrup lines..then the end product will taste nasty.

  10. I think that cinemas and other establishments use what they call post mix machines and the dirnks come in the form of a syrop adding carbonated water as the drink is dispensed.

The more water added the more profit, so insist on bottles or cans!

  11. dude, if your silly enough to drink coke, then there's no surprise they rip you off in the process.

  12. No they aren't they have to sell it as Coke supplies it, if they are charging you.

  13. The syrup to water  mix is completely adjustable so many establishments make it deliberately weak. when an engineer calls they will probably re adjust to correct mix but to help managers keep to tight stock controls they may well turn the syrup down again. best thing to do is complain bitterly and keep complaining to head offices and drink manufactures.

  14. not really, they probably had a drink system problem. usually the cinema or restaurant has a vendor (coke or pepsi) and the vendor will keep the drink system calibrated to give the right mix. if your drink tastes funny take it back.

  15. I really do not know, but... It wouldn`t surprise me if they did mate....

  16. If the drink comes from a fountain, the establishment controls the syrup-to-water ratio. The beverage company gives recommended serving ratios, but most establishments have their own standards... most of which chose to have a higher water-to-syrup ratio so it is more cost effective, as they charge you whatever they want but use less syrup.

So yes, they are allowed to and nearly always do.

  17. They are not. There is a specific mix of syrup/water/carbonation that is to be abided per the agreement of the establishment. For the most part, Coke and Pepsi offer the equipment and supplies to restaurants, movies, etc for greatly reduced fees (or free) in an effort to promote their products with the hope that you will be a convert and purchase the product later.

On that note, there is no reason to water things down.

Some bars and restaurants water down the liquor, which is against the law, but the movtivation to do so is clear.

There's no point in watering down soft drinks.

  18. Theres no need for them to water it down more. If they use the manufacturers cost for making the drinks they still make about 300% profit on their sales.

I just think that occasionally the dose meter doesn't work correctly, or that you get so used to it being superstrength from a can or bottle that you're suprised when its made "fresh"

  19. yeh, they could do without telling you and they always put ice in so that they dont have to put as much of the drink in, i hate the prices as well, the food and drink costs more than the cinema tickets

  20. no they are not....call trading standards if you are being cheated!

  21. Plus they are soo overpriced. That's why I always take my own!!!

  22. There's no law against it but I'm sure Coke wouldn't be too pleased.
