  1. My first two years of college were equal to one year because I blew it completely with my study habits and my party habits.  The way I turned myself around was like this.

    1) After class, I went over all my notes and filled in areas that I didn't have time to complete in class.  This way everything was still fresh in my head.

    2) I did my homework right after lunch.  Everything was still fresh in my head and I had time then.

When I started to do these two simple rules, I had plenty of time to join a Fraternity, party with the best of them, and I got good grade.  Just remembered not to party the night before a big test.

Scheduling of classes is very important also.  Try to have your first class at 9 or 9:30 and finish up by 1 for the day.  Night classes and classes that are once a week should be avoided at all cost.

As for your major.  Choose something that specializes.  Few business majors find a job in business.  There are no jobs for Political science majors.  Psych majors don't become psychologist.  Marketing majors don't go into advertising.

However, Nursing majors become nurses, computer science majors become programmers or net workers, and engineers become rich.

  2. There is no wrong or right answer.

I studied a lot in the freshman year and made some honor societies in the sophmore year. My overall philosophy was to approach each class, especially, in the earlier years on  their own and study for them based on how much time each would need which I would determine based on my own judgement.

You're like a jazz musician and you should approach school open to being flexible and seeing what happens.

  3. They say you're supposed to study for 2hrs each day for each class...but, that would mean i would have to study for 8hours each day. I usually study for about 3hrs total every night.

  4. you study 2 hours out of class for every 1 hour in class.  this way it's not possible to not get A's out of the class

  5. 3 to 4 hours a night... for each class

  6. It really depends on the course load you're taking.  My college says you should expect to put in three hours of work outside of class for every hour you spend in class.  That isn't the case for most of the classes I take, but for some it very definitely is.  That said, my classes only meet three hours a week.

My homework is usually all reading and sometimes a few questions to make sure I did it.
