In craps, do you have to roll dice, pass next shooter?

IN craps, say its my turn to roll, can I just say no thanks, and let the next shooter roll? I dont want to offend anyone, I was just curious. YOu dont have to roll the dice do you? Can you just let the next guy/girl roll? What exactly do you say to the boxman? "NO roll" or "no thanks" or just "pass the dice?" What exactly do you say if in fact you dont have to roll?

you can always pass the dice, especially if there is a hot shooter on the table.  nothing is worse than not having the confidence in the roll or the cold hands
