In current times what must one do to be called and considered a hero?

Question

in the past, to be called a hero you must have slayed a dragon, saved a village, slaughtered an enemy army, ect. so on and so forth. My question is since things in the world have changed, how does one earn the title HERO?

Just join the military and go to Iraq for a stint.  That's it.

It's about the same in today's world.  The only difference is that the person who is called a HERO must endure having the press & media converge on them & their family members just to get a "story".  What ever happened to a simple "thank you" & a cash reward?  That's gone too.  A hero must now submit to the press & become a household name for at least one full week of their lives.

A TRUE PERSONALITY WHO REALISED THE NEED OF TIME,DID SMALL THINGS OR SAME THINGS LIKE US BUT IN A DIFFERENT WAY AND WHO HAD SIMPLE WAY OF LIVING BUT A DEEP THINKING R TRUE HEROES.SO IF U R TALKING ABT THEM ,I WOULD SAY SMALL THINGS IF DONE IN DIFFERENTR WAY BUT RIGHT WAY IS ITSELF A NICE THING AND SECONDLY DO BUT DONT THINK OF PRAISE OR FAME OR ANY REWARD AND U'LL DO THE THING IN BEST WAY.NEWAZ WE OURSELF CAN DO SMALL THINGS NEAR OUR SURROUNDINGS,ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO JOIN,OR CAN WORK ON SMALL LEVEL AT OUR COLONY..............IF U HAV DEEP INSIGHT IN PSYCHOLOGY HELP DISCOURAGED ONES,IF GUD AT CLEANING CLEAN UR SURROUNDINGS ETC.SEARCH ACCORDINGLY, BUT WILL U DO THAT............SMALL WORK THEN SEARCH AT BIG LEVEL,

From a long lifetime of experience I can tell you: "Do not live your life worshipping heroes, BE a hero!."  

A REAL hero can be anything from a person who bravely defends you from danger, like a fireman, to a good samaritan, to a person who loans you a quarter for a phone call when you really need it.  If you want to be a hero thats how you do it; by being a good person.
