In depth usage for the term "inb4"?

How is this term used, Ive been trying to look it up and find out its exact usage and meaning but cannot make much sense of it.

  1. looks like a contraction of  'in before'

    eg I'll be in inb4 8 could mean I'll be at the office before 8 o'clock
