Question:

In desperate need of help. Questions concerning my "niche" in affiliate marketing. Please help if can.

Hello. As a beginner affiliate I'm trying to learn as much as I can so bare with me. Most of the articles say that you should find your own "niche" that you know about or an area of interest that you have a passion in. I have always been interested in the topic of "dating and seduction." But I have come to face some problems that I find rather discouraging:

1) Even though I like this embarrassing topic, I don't know if it is something that sells.

2) How can an art form like this compete against the technological world of digital products (something that I feel indifferent towards, but is something that I think would greatly sell)-cameras, computers, ipods, etc.?

3) I know there are a few ebooks on this topic already, but I also know of websites that one can go to in order to find all this type of material for free (because that's what I used to do), so can't my target audience just do the same thing?

Please answer questions if can. Thank you.

  1. My friend, we are in the same boat then!

I'll answer this question as best as I can, but you must understand that unless we make a blood pact I cannot share much of my strategies with you. :-)

I love dating and seduction niche. And I don't think there's anything embarrassing to it. Lots of guys out there need it.

    1) It sells. Just look at where David Deangelo, Neil Strauss and Mystery are now. Problem is, it's a flooded market. These 3 guys pretty much wipe the market and the rest is left to a few stragglers (I won't mention them here, thought they still do very well, it's nothing compared to what the top 2 do).

    2) I'm not sure I fully understand this question. Are you trying to analyze how this sells against technology products? If so, I can tell you the advantage of dating products is that they are longer lasting. If you market iPods, cameras, etc. these are constantly updated and made obsolete (what about every 6 months they have new iPod? When it does my dishes I'll buy a new one.) Dating advice lasts. It's no wonder these guys have been around for a while. And their advice is going to last for as long as women like men (the way were going, that’s not gona be very long! :-) )

    3) There is always a target audience that goes for the free products. But there are people willing to buy too. That's where your marketing skills come down to it. If the free products were a problem, Deangelo would be out of business. Instead he's profiting more than a vending-machine for crack inside a rehab center.

My suggestion to you: find a sub niche. Target something like: dating women over 40s or dating women with double Ds and work your way from there. If you need a resource to learn more about affiliate marketing, I learned my stuff from here:

  5. There are many things that a beginner needs to know. First off you need to be confident of your market. Dating is a HUGE market, I have a friend who makes well over 100k per month with his dating sites.

The key is to get started on the right foot. Yes, you can find all kinds of free information on the net but the majority of it is garbage.

Online marketing changes all the time. You need to be on top of the methods that work TODAY.

My methods allow me to dominate any niche I choose for my own products or affiliate products.

I just released a new ebook today that explains step by step for those who are new to online marketing. See the source area for the information.

  6. Hi there

You have already been given several good answers and suggestions, so what can I ad?

#1: Dating sites are indeed an excellent niche to dive into.  However, just as the last reponse I read suggested, you need to be very specific when you niche.

For example, instead of choosing "dating" as your focused niche gear down your niche to something like "interracial dating after divorce".  It's very specific and targeted to a certain sub-niche of your overall niche audience.

For even more advice on building successful niches listen to this audio file that I normally charge people for.

I know it doesn't exactly focus on dating, but yeah it does at the same time.

Regarding Q2 I have nothing further to add that has not already been said.  Let me ask though, does this question stem from a lack of self-confidence?  Perhaps not, but it does sound like it.

Regarding Q3 - there will always be room for people to make a living off of information they can find for free elsewhere.  However you need to present your information in such a way that it is more eye appealing and favorable than the free public domain information.  This requires proper marketing tactics within both the Web 1.0 world (SEO, linking, and the like) as well as the Web 2.0 world (Social bookmarking & networking).
