PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Rhode Island’s Roman Catholic bishop is calling on U.S. authorities to halt large immigration raids and says agents who refuse to participate in such raids on moral grounds deserve to be treated as conscientious objectors."We believe that raids on the immigrant community are unjust, unnecessary, and counterproductive," the bishop’s letter says. It urges individual federal agents to consider the morality of their actions and refuse to participate if their conscience dictates.

  1. the way a bishop views world is from a spiritual sense ; while we forget about our own spirituality we become zombies to the rich and powerful.

  2. The Catholic Church is abrogating its responsibility in our country.  It is still a religious organization, but it is moving hard toward a political group, and they are wrong to hammer our laws.  Lots of things for them to do, but they interfere in a democratically created body of laws.
